MOSCOW, (PNA/Itar-Tass) — Russia will allocate 200 million rubles to support domestic human rights organizations before the year-end, Russian President Vladimir Putin told the Presidential Council of Civil Society and Human Rights on Wednesday.
“Today, much is being done for the work of non-profit organizations to be funded from Russian financial resources,” the President said, noting that money for such groups, notably those engaged in human rights activity, had more than tripled this year.
Russian authorities had allocated over 3.2 billion rubles to launch socially important projects.
“This year, many non-governmental human rights organizations have already received funds to support their projects,” Putin said. “It is planned to allocate an additional 200 million rubles… before the end of this year. A tender for the distribution of these funds will be held,” the President said.
