MANILA, (PNA) — The country’s ranking in the Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014 of the World Economic Forum (WEF) has improved by six notches as its ranking went up to 59th this year from 65th spot last year — from among the 148 economies.
In a report of the WEF, it noted the current administration’s efforts to curb corruption contributed to Philippines’ economic competitiveness growth.
“The current government, which came into power in 2010, has made the fight against corruption an absolute priority,” the Global Competitiveness Report said noting that corruption has been the major challenge for the country on competitiveness.
The report noted the Aquino administration’s efforts against graft and corruption resulted to the improved ranking of the country from 135th in 2010 to 87th this year in the ethics and corruption category.
