More than 1,000 runners in Hunat Dabaw fun run on Sept. 1

DAVAO CITY, (PNA) -– More than 1,000 runners are already listed in the Hunat Dabaw Fun Run set this Sunday in an out and back course at The Royal Mandaya Hotel along Palma Gil St. here.

“As of now, we have already more than 1,000 runners and wereare still counting,” said race chairman Daffodil Martinez-Bahani.

The categories are the 3K, 8K and 10K with more than P50,000 in cash prizes and giveaways at stake. It is also the first foot race that will give a buffet breakfast to all the participants.

The proceeds will go to the Col. Emilio Escandor Community Outreach Program set on Sept. 2 in Calinan.The race is supported by Columbia Sports Company, Matina Enclaves, UMBN, Genesis 88, Davao Light and Power Company, G Café, Dasia Security, Globe, GES, Karlo Tomas Photography, Mesa, Daily Mirror, ABS-CBN and SCOOP Davao.

Expected to lead the opening rites at 4 a.m. are businessman-sportsman Glenn Escandor and his brother Boyet and TRMH general manager Benjie Banzon.

Zumba and aerobics fitness instructor Vicky Javier of the Beefit Gym and Aerobics will spearhead the warm-up exercises before the start of the race.

The fun run is the kick-off event of the week-long celebration of the 15th year anniversary of The Royal Mandaya Hotel. It will also feature the Mandaya Giveaway Special (Sept. 3), Zumba Party (Sept. 4), Media: Medya Day (Sept. 5), The Royal Mardi Gras (Sept. 6), Black and White Party (Sept. 7) and Para Kanato! Employees Day (Sept 8.)
