PNS — PRESIDENT Benigno S. Aquino III admitted yesterday that his inheritance of the family’s house on Times St. has made him richer in his net worth in 2011.
The President told Palace reporters that his net worth in 2011 increased after his sisters gave their shares of the family residence in Quezon City to him.
“There is an increase and the increase primarily is because of the inheritance that I got from both my father and my mother, which were finalized in 2011,” Aquino said. “A major (contributor to the increase) is the Times residence. My sisters have decided to bequeath their portions to me also. So whereas last year I only had a share of one out of five, now the it is five-fifths or the entirety is my property and my responsibility,” the President added.
Aquino filed his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net worth on April 24 but the Office of the Ombudsman has yet to make the document public.
Aquino assured the public that his assets and liabilities have been “itemized” in his SALN.
In June 2010, Aquino declared a net worth of a little over P50.194 million. His second SALN as President, filed in April 2011, declared him worth P54.999 million.
