IDC bags 8 awards in PIA journ gab

ILOILO CITY, PHILIPPINES – Members of the Editorial Team of Iloilo Doctor’s College’s (IDC) IDC-Gazette” emerged victorious in a recently concluded Campus Journalism workshop.

Conducted by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) with SMART Communications, four IDC Campus Journalists bagged the major awards.

The journalism seminar was held at the Iloilo Grand Hotel last July 27 to July 29th with lectures on news writing and feature writing. Also discussed extensively are techniques and better strategies on sports writing, copy editing, page design and photojournalism. The Campus journalists were also presented with cyber-laws alongside focus on the Aquino Administration, journalism ethics, overview of online journalism and energizers.

The awards were as follow:

Promising NewsWriter (English) – Jennifer Limchiu

Promising Column Writer (English) – Jennifer Limchiu

Promising Feature Writer (English) – Jennifer Limchiu

Promising News Writer (Filipino) – Michael Jarre Crisostomo

Promising Column Writer (English) – Lord Engelbert Oswald Isiderio

Promising Editorial Writer (English) – Lord Engelbert Oswald Isiderio

Finalist in Photojournalism – Shila Lowesse Patryxia Lao

“We, the gazetteers want to thank the Board of Directors, Dr. Rolando R. Padilla, Mrs. Ma. Elena Alejandra Rivera – Isada, Administrator; Dr. Christine Joy Aguirre – Trespeces, Vice President for Students and Alumni Affairs and Sports Development and Dr. Gil Villanueva, AVP for Student Development for their never-ending support and guidance,” said the winning IDC Gazette team.

More than 200 participants from different schools in Iloilo , Negros Occidental and Antique attended the seminar.

“We are very proud as a team, it is really an honor for us to represent the school and bring honor for her. It is already a great job for a medical school,” Mrs. Ma. Carmeli Lacuesta Uy, IDC-Gazette’s adviser said.

The said seminar-workshop is conducted every year with the aim of uplifting campus journalism and campus journalism writers.
