Social Network Privy.net Touts Exclusive Food Insights in LA, SF & NY

Posted on February 5, 2011

Top Restaurant Lists from Prominent Asians Americans

LOS ANGELES — (U.S. ASIAN WIRE)– Luxury traveler’s network Privy.net has launched the latest two in its series of Privy 5 Guides — Privy 5 New York (ny.privy.net) and Privy 5 San Francisco (sf.privy.net) — to complement the existing Privy 5 LA Guide (la.privy.net). The triumvirate of curated guides features Privy’s own top 5 picks in Asian-heavy categories like Korean BBQ, Shanghainese, Japanese Bar Food, Pho, and Dim Sum, as well as the top 5 picks of a select group of Privy’s members and celebrities like actor/dancer Harry Shum (Glee); journalist Lisa Ling (Oprah); and actors John Cho (Star Trek, Harold and Kumar), Kelly Hu (X2, The Scorpion King), Daniel Wu (Protege, Blood Brothers), B.D. Wong (Law & Order, M. Butterfly), Russell Wong (Romeo Must Die, The Mummy 3), Joan Chen (The Last Emperor), Aaron Yoo (21, Disturbia), and Justin Chon (Twilight).

Other notable top 5 lists from NY and SF include those of designer Vivienne Tam, NBA player Jeremy Lin, Steve Chen (Youtube.com founder), playwright David Henry Hwang (M Butterfly), Jennifer Yen (Founder, Pur~lisse), Kai and Charles Huang (co-publishers of the Guitar Hero franchise), Peter Kim (founder of Hudson Jeans), John Suh, (LegalZoom.com CEO), Josh Tang (WireImage.com founder), Arthur Chi’en (Emmy-winning reporter), Suk Park (DramaFever.com founder), and Danielle Chang (Lucky Rice Food Festival founder).

Privy Founder/CEO Stephen Liu adds: “With the LA, SF, and NY metro areas having the largest populations of Asian Americans in the U.S., it is not surprising that Asian cuisines figure prominently into our guides. Furthermore, if the Asian influence in the food-blogging world demonstrates anything, Asian Americans really know their food.”

Also featured in the Privy 5 Guides are Plate by Plate’s participating restaurants. Plate by Plate is the annual food and wine tasting benefit put on by Project by Project (PbP), one of Privy’s nonprofit partners.

“We are extremely pleased to be marketing partners with Privy. Privy is a socially conscious company that gives to the community in an innovative way that resonates with our mission,” says Liliana Chen, national president of PbP.

Privy is an invite-only global network and online/mobile travel platform that enables a select group of key transpacific influencers to coordinate roving itineraries and share city insider tips in a trusted environment. In cooperation with corporate partners, Privy also produces a series of member-curated online city guides and the Privy Magazine which are open to the public.
