ZAMBOANGA CITY, Dec. 7 (PNA) -– Government authorities have declared the province of Lanao del Norte as “peaceful and ready for further development.”
Maj. Felimon Tan, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, said the declaration was made through a joint resolution signed on Monday in a ceremony held at the provincial capitol in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
Tan said the signatories of the resolution are the following: Maj. Gen. Mayoralgo Dela Cruz, Westmincom chief; Maj. Gen. Gerardo Barrientos, 1st Infantry Division commander; Senior Supt. Gerardo Rosales, Police Regional Office-10’s chief directorial staff; Department of National Defense Undersecretary Natalio Ecarma III; Lanao del Norte Governor Khalid Dimaporo; and, Col. Gilbert Gapay, 2nd Mechanized Brigade commander.
Tan said the declaration as “peaceful and ready for further development” manifested the improved security situation with the minimal presence of the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels paving the way for economic growth in the province.
He said several projects, including the construction of a coal-fired power plant, Holcim and Mapalad power plant, are among the development projects being undertaken in the province.
In addition, he noted that the signing of joint resolution also aims to strengthen the ties of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the local government units in their commitment to sustaining the peace in Lanao del Norte province. (PNA)
