ILOILO CITY, Dec. 1 (PNA) — The provincial government’s scholarship program has produced its first civil engineer in the person of Bryan Orojo Molina of Barangay Odiongan, San Dionisio.
The 22-year-old scholar took the licensure exam for civil engineers in Sacred Heart School in Cebu City on November 18-19, 2015.
Five days thereafter, he learned that he passed the board exam from the Professional Regulation Commission.
“It was really great. Up to now, I feel like I’m floating on cloud nine!” acclaimed Molina when asked what it feels like to pass the board exam.
Bryan is the fourth among the six children of Eugenio and Merlyn Molina. Eugenio works day and night as a fisherman, while his wife takes care of their children at home.
A consistent achiever, Bryan graduated as class valedictorian of Carlos Lopez National High School in Barangay Bacagay, San Dionisio.
He earned his degree in civil engineering from Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College-Estancia Campus.
He became a scholar when he passed the exam and other requirements of Iskolar sang Iloilo Program of Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. in 2010.
“I am really honored and thankful to be part of the program and be an inspiration to others,” said Bryan.
When he took the board exam, Bryan said he simply did his best since he does not want to put to waste his parents’ effort and money.
Bryan valued his scholarship and he wanted his fellow scholars to make use of such privilege to reach the career they wished for, as well as, their dreams for their family.
The Iskolar sang Iloilo Program (ISIP) has been established to provide scholarship to poor yet intelligent students here.
Last year, the chief executive ordered to increase the number of scholars from seven to 10 per district, making it 50 every school year.
The Project Management Board of ISIP is also looking into the possibility of having scholars for Grade 11 and 12 in the next two years due to K to 12 Program.
In order to maintain the scholarship, the scholars must have no failing grades and dropped subjects. They also must maintain a weighted average grade of 2.5 in all of their subjects.
ISIP offers P2,000 monthly stipend for housing, food and fare and P1,000 yearly for clothing allowance. The scholars also get P1,000 allowance per semester for the books and other related projects. (PNA)
