SM Seaside City Cebu opens

Posted on November 27, 2015

CEBU CITY, Nov. 27 (PNA) — SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPH), the Philippines’ leading shopping mall developer, on Friday opened SM Seaside City Cebu at the 300-hectare South Road Properties in Cebu City.

SM Seaside City, SMPH’s 56th mall in the country and the third in this central Philippine island province, has gross floor area of 430,000 square meters (sqm).

SMPH’s two other shopping malls in Cebu are the SM City Cebu in the city’s north reclamation area and SM City Consolacion in the northern town of Consolacion.

SM Seaside City Cebu is the first of SMPH’s many developments in the 30-hectare SM Seaside Complex at the SRP.

The complex will include residences, offices, an arena, a five-star hotel, and convention centers.

The complex also features “The Cube”, a steel sculpture that symbolizes “strength and stability of Cebuanos” alongside SM’s “continued commitment to excellence.”

The circular five-story SM Seaside City Cebu has concentric arcs from a central multi-purpose space with a “Seaside Tower,“ a 147-meter high viewing tower which offers a panoramic view of the entire city.

A Sky Park provides a unique setting for diverse dining outlets in an elevated garden.

The new mall is touted to be the first of its kind in urban development in the SRP, one that also promises to “revolutionize the malling experience not only in Cebu, but in the whole southern portion of the Philippines,” the property firm said in a press statement.

SM Prime president Hans Sy described the new mall as a “lifestyle city.”

The new mall was blessed on Thursday with Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma and Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III. (PNA)
