ILOILO CITY, Nov 24 (PNA) — The city council is set to pass a regulation ordinance amending Section 1 (A) of Regulation Ordinance 2011-726 that calls for prohibition of any conveyance of the awarded lot on the relocation sites of the Iloilo City government and providing penalties for violation thereof.
City councilor Jose Efrian Trenas III, newly designated chairman of the Committee on Urban Poor, Human Rights and Minority Groups, said there are seven city relocation sites established by the city government.
He had conducted an ocular inspection at the three big relocation sites with a combined almost 3,000 former homeless family settlers and danger zone dwellers. These are at the River Plains Subdivision in Brgy Lanit, Jaro district, San Isidro in Jaro and at the Sooc relocation site in Mandurriao district.
He admitted that while there are unoccupied units yet some of those are occupied by families of barangay officials who are not qualified as relocatees under the law.
He said he had requested a complete list of awarded relocatees in the three big relocation sites from the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (ICUPAO) in order to verify reports of anomalous awards.
Trenas wanted to further enhance interpretation of the ordinance, particularly by defining certain terms and conditions that the transferor shall no longer be eligible or qualified as beneficiary in any subsequent relocation site of the city.
The transferor must also present competent proof to establish blood relationship such as but not limited to marriage and birth certificates.
Councilor RLeonne Gerochi, committee vice chair said the amended ordinance will be ready by next week. (PNA)
