CALAMBA CITY, Laguna Nov. 23 (PNA) — If you think that the Christmas magical spectacle of fairy tale-like characters brings joy only to a select audience of mostly children and the young at heart, think again.

SM City Calamba holiday shoppers and the mall’s clients from all walks of life were thrilled to a Sunday early “Grand Magical Christmas Parade” of famous Disney characters at the mall atrium as part of the shopping center’s Yuletide weekly feature presentations.

To a rousing welcome by the “Nutcracker” drummer boys replete with colorful costumes and drums, the crowd took delight as the real-life Disney characters marched into the atrium preceded by the brass bands playing the drum ruffles.

Karen Christine Tiqui, SM City Calamba public relations officer, said the SM Supermalls continue to bring joy to its shoppers and the public in celebrating the Yuletide Season with the “Grand Magical Christmas Parade” on Nov 22 and another spectacle scheduled for Dec 26.

Sunday’s spectacular event featured the bear mascots and impersonations of princes and princesses spiced up by the ballet movements and dance steps of damselflies and pixies.

The crowd also cheered as the Disney’s animated classic Peter Pan and four other “cloned” characters inched their way into the event arena as if to whisk away children to the magical world of Neverland.

Children were later awed to the segment featuring one of the famous fairy tales of the Seven Dwarfs with the mascots playing not only with their lovely princess Snow White but also with four other beautiful damsels accompanied by handsome princes.

The mall spectators and shoppers also witnessed Santa Claus dazzling shoppers in a “meet and greet” against a beautiful centerpiece backdrop sprucing the Christmas ambiance with towering Christmas trees, life-sized toy soldiers, huge gift boxes and the array of reindeer pulling Santa’s giant sleigh.

The young and old alike did what seemed like never-ending photo ops and selfies as the jaw-dropping grand finale came with the assemblage of all the fairy tale-like characters at the mall atrium as lights dazzled, confetti rained and Yuletide sounds and carols reverberated throughout the mall’s magical presentations.

According to the event organizers, the mall’s marketing arm continues its “SM Cares Bears of Joy” where each shopper can have a cuddly bear for P 200 pesos while sharing the other bear as donation to a chosen charity to demonstrate the Christmas spirit of gift-giving. (PNA)
