Tacurong LGU exceeds tax collection target, vows improved collection efficiency

Posted on November 19, 2015

TACURONG CITY, Nov. 19 (PNA) -– Massive information drive and aggressive collection activities of this city’s Treasury Office led to positive results as it exceeded its targeted local revenue collection, officials said.

Jessie P. Batchar, Tacurong City Treasurer, said from January to November 16 this year, the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) has collected Php92.3 million in revenues or a collection efficiency of 101 percent of its Php91.4-million target for the same period.

Batchar said the collection represented Php43.3 million for local tax revenue and Php49 million non-tax revenue.

”Our massive information campaign telling taxpayers of their obligations to the local government and the massive collection activities have provided us good results,” Batchar told reporters.

”Credit to this achievement should go to our tax collectors and the taxpaying public,” he said.

Batchar said that tax collection from businesses in the city posed little to no hurdles, but collecting from real property taxes needs a bit more support from the people.

”We need to be innovative,” he said, telling his collectors to double the effort for the last quarter of 2015.

Tacurong City Mayor Lina Montilla has urged cooperation from the constituents to pay their real property taxes as soon as they are able.

”This is your social obligation, both to the government and the people of Tacurong City,” Montilla said.

She lauded the City Treasury Office for a job well done but quickly reminded them that collectors should not be satisfied with the achievement.

”Double the efforts because taxes collected will be used by the local government through various basic services for the people of Tacurong,” Montilla said. (PNA)
