MANDAUE CITY, Nov. 19 (PNA) — The Mandaue City Council has approved the granting of year-end cash incentives to regular city employees and elected officials.
More than 500 officials and employees will receive the cash incentives, with those earning a monthly salary of PHP10,000 and above getting an amount equivalent to one month salary and those earning less receiving at least PHP10,000.
The city has set aside PHP10.8 million for the incentives.
But job-order (JO) workers, Clean and Green employees and barangay nutrition and health workers will not receive cash incentives.
Mandaue City Councilor Diosdado Suico, who sponsored the ordinance for the giving of the incentives, said they are prohibited by law to grant them year-end cash incentives.
He said the Commission on Audit last year told the city government to return the amount given as year-end cash incentives to JO workers, Clean and Green employees and barangay nutrition and health workers.
The city defended the granting of the cash incentives but the appeal is still pending. (PNA)
