MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan, Nov. 15 (PNA)–Bulacan is also bracing for the coming Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Summit.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado on Sunday instructed police and other security forces to step-up their internal security measures to help the Philippine government in ensuring a peaceful climate during the holding of the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting.
He said Bulacan is very near Metro Manila and it is prudent that pertinent security measures and preparations are strictly implemented to prevent potential hostile forces from disrupting the meeting of the world leaders which the Philippines is hosting this week.
“Even President Aquino is personally checking the venues where the world leaders would meet. We must help our President in ensuring the peaceful hosting of this important world event,” Alvarado said.
The governor has already instructed Bulacan police director and other law enforcement agencies in Bulacan to incraese police visibilty on a 24/7 basis.
He said he does not want a repeat of the recent cold blooded slaying of Bulacan Regional Trial Court Judge Wilfredo Nieves who was ambushed and killed by still unidentified assasins while on his way to Metro Manila after attending court duty.
“The criminals have no place in our peaceful society. We must not give them opportunity to do their evil deeds,” he said.
Alvarado also called on fellow Bulakenyos to pray for the victims of the terror attacks in Paris, France.
He said that even advanced countries are vulnerable to such wave of terror so prayers and vigilance are really needed to prevent such incidents from happening.
“Let’s all pray that peace will always reign,” the governor said. (PNA)
