MANILA, Nov. 11 (PNA)–Aster DM Health Care, the biggest healthcare network in India and Middle East countries, expanded Wednesday its global operations with the opening of its first mobile and diagnostic clinic offering quality health care and services in the Philippines .

The company inaugurated its first clinic in the Philippines dubbed as Aster Medical and Diagnostic Clinic at St. Francis Square, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.

In a press launching held at Oakwood Premier Hotel, ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, Joyce Alumno, president and country manager, said that the entry of the clinic initially aimed to target and cater among those who have HMOs (health maintenance organization) coverage like those working in the BPO industry.

“That’s (BPO-Business Process Outsourcing industries) the big segment that we will be catering to…Although we don’t want to forget also those not covered with HMOs like the SMEs (small and medium scale enterprises),” said Alumno in an interview with the media.

She added that the venture was timely and inspired four years ago or exactly on Nov. 11, 2011, during Global Health Forum held in the country wherein global competitiveness of Philippines and its healthcare industry was tackled.

With its entry into the country, Alumno said Aster DM HealthCare was committed to bring together strong medical teams which were managed with good systems, process, protocols and standards sand coupled with quality and accessible services at the right price.

She said that DM Healthcare was looking at expanding to more locations in the Philippines in the next five years.

Since 2013, Dr. Moopen DM Foundation, the company’s charity arm, has been doing philanthropic works through surgeries for children born with heart defects.Setting up hospital is something that we have been doing in the past 28 years across the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Countries) regions, Middle East, and India and we are hoping to do same in the Philippines,” the company country manager said.

The company was established in 1987 by its chairman and managing director Dr. Azad Moopen.

It started first as a small clinic outside Dubai until it expanded as years go by.

Dr. Moopen was represented in the launching by his daughter Alisha Moopen, who sits as Aster DM HealthCare executive director and Group CEO for Hospitals and Clinics.

All of the hospitals that the company owns in the mentioned countries have bigger bed capacities matched with most advanced technologies.

The hospitals also employ Filipino healthcare professionals and workers.(PNA)
