TACLOBAN CITY, Nov. 11 (PNA) – The An Waray Party list broke their silence on the report that they have been unresponsive to the needs of super typhoon Yolanda victims in Eastern Visayas.
After two years, Rep. Victoria Noel stood up and told their critics that the party list has been helping in both emergency and recovery phase after the catastrophe.
According to Noel, they never advertised their activities and assistance extended to typhoon victims.
She recalled that a day after the typhoon, former An Waray Partylist Rep. Florencio Noel was on board of a C-130 aircraft, the first that landed at Tacloban Airport after the disaster.
“He saw the situation and the need of the people and that same day, we bought what’s needed for relief operations. We were at the army gym and we started working,” Noel said.
“We were thankful for the outpour of support given to us thus we were able to send 55 wing vans of relief goods and five army trucks of water distributed in different parts of the region,” she added.
“Maybe it’s wrong to say that we did nothing to help. It just for An Waray that we are more concerned in working than talking,” she said.
The group also conducted feeding programs in several villages in the city, distributed roofing materials and other shelter assistance.
Noel said that criticisms against them or the party don’t matter as long as they know that they were able to help the people in need. (PNA)
