Posted on November 3, 2015

TACURONG CITY, Nov. 3 (PNA) – More than 40 representatives from various civil society organizations (CSOs) participated in the CSO assembly today conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Tacurong as the city government enlists the participation of stakeholders in its anti-poverty projects.

The gathering held at the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) building served as a venue for the formulation of Local Poverty Reduction Plan (LPRP), wherein the resulting proposed projects will be funded under the Bottom Up Budgeting (BUB) program.

Tacurong City Mayor Lina Montilla said present during the gathering were representatives from Rotary Club of Tacurong, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, Rotaract Club of Talakudong, Talakudong Metal Craft, City Agriculture and Fishery Council, Tacurong Balot Vendors Association, Tacurong Habitat for Humanity, Tacurong Massage Clinic Association, United Way of Sultan Kudarat, Notre Dame Eductional Association, PAGLAUM (Hope) Project, Samahan ng mga Biyuda, Parish Supreme Pastoral Council, Federation of Senior Citizen Association Tacurong City and many others.

Montilla said the city government believed that consulting with the major stakeholders on programs that benefit them or help the LGU in its implementation was vital in the success of the program.

During the event, the participants elected officers who will serve as envoys in the Local Poverty Reduction Team (LPRAT) and will participate in the LPRAT Planning Workshop.

Stakeholders were trained how to identify poverty indicators and to formulate possible strategies and programs for poverty reduction. This is a pre-requisite for the formation and approval of the LPRP under the BUB.

In the same meeting, the DILG provided orientation on Local Governance and Bottom-Up Budgeting that explained the implementing rules and regulations of the BUB program.

Other presentations during the assembly included the reporting on the status of implementation of 2013 – 2015 BUB projects, presentation/validation of poverty data/indicators, poverty analysis workshop, the corresponding output of the said workshop, and finalization of poverty analysis and identification of priority projects.
