MANILA, Oct 30 (PNA) – Manila Electric Company (Meralco) chairman Manny Pangilinan said the firm is eyeing technical partnerships with some distribution utilities (DUs) for next year.
”We’re looking at distribution utilities in the provinces. Quite a number, we’re looking at… Maybe next year,” he said at the sidelines of Meralco’s 3rd Quarter Results Media Briefing.
He noted the new partnership might be with another Pampanga Electric Cooperative Inc. (PELCO).
Currently, there are only three PELCOs: PELCO 1, PELCO 2 and PELCO 3.
Meralco earlier signed as the technical partner of PELCO 2.
Pangilinan also gave an update on PELCO 2, adding that the management is already in place.
”Management is there already, they’re starting to turn it around, investing slowly in capital expenditures,” he said.
Aside from local distribution utilities, Meralco also partnered with Integrated Energy Distribution and Marketing Ltd. to take over two distribution utilities in Nigeria, which are Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc. and Yola Electricity Distribution Co. Plc. (PNA)
