BACOLOD CITY, Oct 30 (PNA) — The 1st Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) Summit held earlier this week gathered about 120 participants from 61 barangays of this city.
The summit highlighted the city’s initiated programs and projects on children’s protection, welfare and rights.
Present were members of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), non-government organizations, civic groups, and other stakeholders.
Mayor Monico Puentevella, chairman of the LCPC, said the city is committed to upholding the children’s rights and ensure their safety and welfare.
“The city is exercising its efforts to be one of the country’s most child-friendly cities by upholding the welfare and rights of children as one of its commitment to end child abuse and exploitation,” he said.
The Orientation on Child Monitoring System (CMS) and Child Protection Profile was presented during the gathering.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Bacolod also launched the Search for the Most Child-Friendly Barangay to recognize barangay leaders who are committed to providing programs and projects intended for the protection of children.(PNA)
