MANILA, Oct 28 (PNA) – United Holdings Power Corp. (UHPC) will bid out the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for its 8.4-megawatt (MW) Upper Maladugao hydro power project in Kalilangan, Bukidnon by November.
UHPC business development officer Engr. Marti Sandino Espenido told reporters in an interview that the company has already shortlisted the potential contractors, namely: Sta. Clara International, JV Angeles Construction and Manila Electric Company’s (Meralco) subsidiary MIESCOR.
He also said the company is targeting European contractors for its technical equipment, with the potential contractors including: German-firm Andritz Hydro, Austrian-firm Wasserkraft, Austrian-firm Global Hydro German-firm Wasserkraft Volk AG (WKV).
Espenido noted the awarding for the contracts is targeted by December, with the latest on January.
UHPC chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Dominic Sytin said the project has an estimated cost of Php 1.2 billion, funded from 30 percent equity and 70 percent from a loan from BDO Unibank.
He added the construction of the power plant is expected by the first quarter of 2016.
The capacity of the power plant will be sold to First Bukidnon Electric Cooperative Inc. (FIBECO) and the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), with FIBECO having 5.5 MW and the rest to be sold at the WESM.
The detailed engineering design of the power plant was completed by Meadowland Developers, Inc. this October.
Espenido further said the project “will benefit a big part of the local community, also the adjacent towns because of the livelihood, economic movement, which will be on top of adding security in the power area.” (PNA)
