ILOILO CITY, Oct. 7 (PNA) -– Newly-appointed city tourism officer, Junel Ann Divinagracia, is planning to introduce innovations aligned with the instruction of Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog for her to “clean up” the office.
Mayor Mabilog announced the appointment of Divinagracia as the city’s new tourism officer Wednesday evening following the successful staging of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings with the latter as executive director of the Iloilo Organizing Committee (IOC).
Prior to the introduction of initiatives, though, she said that she will look into the competencies of her staff at the tourism office.
Divinagracia said that a “formidable team is very important for an organization to succeed.”
“Right persons, right competencies and capabilities of staff are important for an organization to succeed. Once we have that then we can have the innovations that you want,” she said.
She is also checking the activities of the department to determine what needs to be retained and what to let go.
What is important she said is that efforts will have an impact to the city and will ensure sustainability of projects.
Nonetheless, she revealed that she wanted to further enhance the customer service aspect of the office with tourism being a customer-service oriented department.
Divinagracia succeeded Benito Jimena who retired from his post on August 25, 2015.
In an interview, she stressed that she could not equal the performance of Jimena because she is there “to work.” (PNA)
