17 missing fishermen rescued, identified

BOLINAO, Pangasinan, Oct. 6 (PNA) — Seventeen fishermen from Bolinao who were on board two separate fishing boats when they left for fishing expedition in the West Philippine Sea on October 2 and later declared missing were rescued in mid-sea, according to the report of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Police Office at 6:00 p.m. of October 6.

Eight of these on board FB Azekiel Ryan were Jerry Roaya, 31; Joel Ayuste, 42, Vincent Tobias, 3; John Rhey Ayuste, 21; Alexander Panahon, 42; Renal Elleazar, 60; Joey Ayuste, 44; Marlo Elorde, 26, all residents of Bolinao.

Nine others are crewmen of MV Flores that came from Bolinao, Dasol, Pangasinan namely: Cepertino Caspiano, Martino Castaneda, Roejay Casmiano, Juan Victor Miguel Perges, Jenrick Najaro, John Paul Penaranda, Julio Jimenez, Sator Fernandez and Alex Plaso. They were brought to the Philippine Coast Guard Detachment in Luciente 1, Bolinao.

All of them were rescued by crewmen of FB San Pedro Balugo 8, FB John John and MV Flores at about 72 nautical miles West of Bolinao at about 9:00 a.m. of October 5.

The rescued fishermen were brought to the Rural Health Unit of Bolinao for medical treatment.

At about 7:00 p.m. of October 5, two other fishermen from FB San Pedro De Balugo I were rescued. They are Micher Ibno, 32; and Macario Demerin, 56, both residents of Masinloc, Zambales. They were rescued by crewmen of FB Andrea Angela at some 80 nautical miles west of Bolinao at about 9:00 a.m. on the same day.

Both were brought to the Pangasinan Doctor’s Hospital, Alaminos City for medical treatment.

Search and rescue operation (SARO) is still going on for the other missing fishermen. (PNA)
