MANILA, Sept. 29 (PNA) – Malacanang on Tuesday allayed fears by Vice President Jejomar Binay that the 2016 elections will be marred with cheating and overspending of government resources in favor of the Liberal Party (LP) candidates.
”We stand by our record of good governance that has earned our Bosses’ trust and support,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a text message to the Malacanang Press Corps.
After he resigned from the Cabinet of President Benigno Aquino III last June, Binay also launched his attacks against the same government he served for almost five years.
Binay served as presidential adviser on overseas Filipino workers’ (OFW) concerns and chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDDC).
Binay will run as president in 2016 elections under the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) party.
Coloma said President Benigno has stated that the 2016 elections will be a referendum on Daang Matuwid (straight path).
The ruling Liberal Party (LP) has chosen Secretary Mar Roxas to continue the good governance of President Aquino. (PNA)
