Posted on September 21, 2015

MANILA, Sept. 21 (PNA) — Philippines, through the National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. (NHMFC), will host the 2nd ASEAN Fixed Income Summit (AFIS) on Sept. 28 at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.

With the theme, “ASEAN, ONE MARKET”, the event aims to achieve further integration of domestic financial markets in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

Against the backdrop of regional integration, the 2nd AFIS seeks to address issues and challenges involving the promotion of liquidity and market transparency in the ASEAN region.

This event is designed for fixed income traders, portfolio managers, risk managers, and bond market practitioners.

The summit will feature distinguished members from the ASEAN nations to provide insights and updates regarding the ASEAN market.

The regional market outlook and yield expectations in the global bond markets will be discussed by Masahiro Kobayashi, Director General for Global Market and Director General for International Affairs of the Japan Housing Finance Agency.

Roberto Juanchito T. Dispo, President of the First Metro Investment Corp. will provide an issuance forecast for ASEAN regional borrowers in local, ASEAN, and G3 bond markets.

Furthermore, progress updates on ASEAN bond market initiatives will be provided by well-known speakers: Cesar Crisol, President of the Philippine Dealing System Holding Corp. & Subsidiaries, and Chu Kok Wei, Group Head of the Treasury and Markets of CIMB Group.

Best practices in promoting cross-border issuance of ASEAN bonds will be tackled ranging from bond markets and private sector growth (from a Philippine and Malaysian perspective), cross-border issuance (Malaysian and Indonesian experience), and managing investor’s expectations.

In addition, capital control measures in ASEAN countries from a regulator’s perspective will be discussed by Bank Negara Malaysia Deputy Governor Datu’ Muhammad Ibrahim and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo.

Lastly, challenges and opportunities in the ASEAN Fixed Income Market will be discussed by Mr. Boo Hock Khoo, Vice President-Operations at Credit Guarantee & Investment Facility, and Mr. Mahud Mehta, Managing Director from Standard Charter Bank. (PNA)
