Posted on September 20, 2015

By Christopher Lloyd T. Caliwan

MANILA, Sept. 20 (PNA) — As the Philippine National Police continues to run after criminal elements they nabbed 210 Most Wanted Persons in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the past 10 weeks.

Police Director Generoso Cerbo Jr., Director for Intelligence (DI), reported they have arrested 210 of Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) in Metro Manila for the past 10 weeks after Oplan Lambat-Sibat Phase 2 started on July 6,2015.

Cerbo said of 440 wanted persons listed, 210 or 48 percent were already arrested from July –to September 13, 2015 of the Lambat-Sibat Phase 2 campaign to include the nine wanted persons arrested from September 7 to 13, 2015.

He said five of the nine arrested wanted persons are involved in robbery and theft cases which reflects the weekly crime status in NCR where robbery and theft decreased from 288 cases on August 31 to September 6, 2015, to 260 cases on September 7 to 13, 2015 as presented by the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) during the regular Lambat-Sibat meeting.

Furthermore, Cerbo also highlighted the notable accomplishments of PNP operatives who ran after illegal drug personalities in Metro Manila.

To date, 45 percent or 200 illegal drug personalities were arrested, mostly through buy-bust operations, out of 440 targets since the operation started on July 6, 2015.

“Through the sustained implementation of Oplan Lambat Sibat, the PNP intensified police presence on streets and anti-criminality campaigns with the primary goal of reducing crime and improving public safety” Cerbo noted, adding these interventions also include strategically-placed checkpoints, foot mobile patrols, focused and intelligence-driven operations against most wanted persons and member of criminal gangs.
