BACOLOD CITY, Sept. 15 (PNA) — Beneficiaries from 12 villages in this city were granted a total of P7.5 million in livelihood assistance implemented under the national government’s Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) program.
Mayor Monico Puentevella, with City Social Services and Development head Pacita Tero, distributed the assistance in rites held last weekend at the Bacolod People’s House lobby.
“Our government is committed to help the poor and deliver social services intended for them,” Puentevella said.
The beneficiaries are from Barangays Sum-ag, Banago, Singcang, Taculing, Tangub, Felisa, Handumanan, Mansilingan, Pahanocoy, Vista Alegre, Bata, and Granada.
The BUB program aims ensure the implementation of priority poverty reduction projects as identified at the city/municipal level through a participatory planning and budgeting process.
Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) focal person Joyce Ann Mae Solinap said the recipients include Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries, women, and urban poor, and Balayan Resource Center-La Salle.
The financial assistance in terms of loan is payable for one year.
Solinap said the city government will closely monitor the implementation of the program and submit a progress report to the Department of Social Welfare and Development national office. (PNA)
