President Aquino graces opening of 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park

Posted on September 14, 2015

ILOILO CITY, Sept. 14 (PNA) — The 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park, the integrated township development of Megaworld, was launched today, September 14.

President Benigo Aquino III together with his Cabinet secretaries and members of the reception party viewed the Iloilo Business Park Township Scale Model, unveiled its marker and received the Iloilo Business Park township key.

Mr. Aquino also led the unveiling of the marker of the Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, Iloilo’s premier business hotel, which has 149 spacious rooms.

Recently, Richmonde hotel was awarded as “Highly Commended for Best Hotel Interior Design” at the 2015 Philippines Property Awards.

Andrew Tan, chairman and CEO of Megaworld, in his speech, said that he hoped that they could generate around Php250,000 direct and indirect jobs for Iloilo, not just in the BPO sector but also in hotels, malls and commercial centers, residential buildings, transport, security and construction.

“We envision this township to be Iloilo’s central business district and a center for lifestyle and tourism of Western Visayas,” Tan said.

The said project development costs Php35 billion. Iloilo Business Park is considered to be the biggest business and tourism hub in Western Visayas.

Currently, the three office towers that have been completed are the One Global Center, Two Global Center and the Richmonde Tower.

Tan said that in 2016, they will finish the construction of the Festive Walk Mall which will be the biggest lifestyle mall outside Luzon.

Further, residential condominiums are also expected to rise in the township including The Palladium which will be the tallest residential tower in the whole Panay Island.

Iloilo Business Park is also the official home of the Iloilo Convention Center. (PNA)
