DOST Science Nation Tour kicks off in Apayao in October

BAGUIO CITY, Sept. 12 (PNA) — A science extravaganza roadshow on Science and Technology (S&T) will kick-off in the Cordillera Region, in October, to promote the undertakings of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and for better appreciation of science and technology.

The roadshow on the vital components of the government’s effort which aims to lift the lives of every Filipino is being prepared by the DOST Science Nation Tour.

The roadshow carrying the theme, “Inspire, Engage and Convert”, after the acronym of “Information Education Communications” campaign (IEC) will be conducted beginning October 6 to 8.

The tour kicks off in Luna, Apayao on October 6 with the launching of the Complementary Food Project at Apayao State College and blessing and inauguration of the Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC)-Apayao simultaneous with the inauguration of the PSTC-Kalinga in Tabuk City.

The S&T roadshow will be in Bila, Bauko, Mountain Province on October 7 for the launching of ceramic water filter project after which will proceed to the Green Salad-Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) Project in Sinto, Bauko.

In Baguio City also on October 7, activities include the ceremonial turnover of the STARBOOKS project to the Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education–Cordillera.

DOST Secretary Mario Montejo is expected to grace the S&T roadshow culminating activity on October 8 in the Regional Development Council–led forum to highlight the agency’s S&T engagements with various stakeholders at Hotel Le Monet, Camp John Hay.

The Science Nation Tour Roadshow has already been done in Regions XI and II in March; CARAGA in May; MIMAROPA and Region VII in June, and Region X in August.

The conduct of the Science Nation Tour Roadshow in the Cordillera Region is simultaneous with Region V.

Regions III, IVA, XII, and NCR are scheduled in November and early December.(PNA)
