BACOLOD CITY, Sept. 10 (PNA) — The Negros Occidental provincial government implemented a PHP3,000-threshold monthly net take-home pay for its nearly 2,000 employees.
Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr., in his Executive Order No. 15-014 dated Sept. 4, said that the Capitol will “strictly enforce the PHP3,000 threshold” as provided in Section 48 or Republic Act No. 10651 or the General Appropriations Act of 2015.
Under the law, only deductions of Bureau of Internal Revenue, PhilHealth, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) or Pag-IBIG, mutual benefits associations, thrift banks and non-stock savings and loan associations, associations, cooperatives and provident funds organized by the employees, duly licensed insurance companies and rural banks accredited by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas are allowed.
Renelo Lastierre, president of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE), thanked the governor for his “concern to the plight of government workers.”
“This EO will be for the protection of government employees against arbitrary and unconsionable deductions other than those allowed by law,” Lastierre said.
He added that PACE “will monitor that it will be implemented for the benefit of the employees.”(PNA)
