Bacolod’s MassKara ‘worth the plane ticket’ — U.S. website

Posted on September 10, 2015

BACOLOD CITY, Sept. 10 (PNA) — The MassKara Festival, staged in this city every October, continues to attract global attention.

A recent article posted on thoughtcatalog.com said that the festival of the “City of Smiles” is included in the website’s “12-month calendar of amazing things happening all over the world”.

The write-up titled “12 Wild International Parties That Are Totally Worth The Plane Ticket” described the MassKara Festival as a “joyous, annual masked ball” after the city experienced two major crises in the early ’80s.

“Bacolod is nicknamed “The City of Smiles,” and Masskara shows why,” the article added.

“All roads should lead to Bacolod every October,” said Mayor Monico Puentevlla, adding that the city is proud and privileged of the inclusion of MassKara in the list.

Also listed are the Cape Minstrel Carnival of Cape Town, South Africa (January); Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (February); Holi Festival of India (March); King’s Day of Amsterdam (April); Lightning in a Bottle of Bradley, California (May); Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival of Manchester, Tennessee (June); Boryeong Mud Festival of Boryeong, South Korea (July); La Tomatina (August); The Great Reno Balloon Rae of Reno, Nevada (September); Festival of Light of Chiang Mai, Thailand (November); and Art Basel of Miami Beach, Florida (December).
