Sen. Escudero admits he and Poe yet to make a decision

Posted on September 10, 2015

By Leonardo V. Micua

DAGUPAN CITY, Sept. 10 (PNA)–Senator Francis Escudero said here he and Senator Grace Poe have yet to make a definite and final decision if they are seeking higher positions in the coming 2016 elections till today.

>In a press conference in the course of a series of speaking engagements at different campuses in Pangasinan at Star Plaza Hotel before noon today, Escudero said the two of them have not made any declaration yet but admitted that the two of them have already been talking about this matter.

“Papunta po doon pero wala pang pinal na decision (It will lead to that but there was no final decision yet),” he said when pressed by newsmen if they have already formed a decision.

Asked if Senator Poe is all sewed up to run for President, Escudero said he is not the spokesman of Poe and does not want to make an announcement ahead of the person concerned.

But he added that perhaps next week or sometime this September, Senator Poe might make public her personal decision.”It must be too soon since the filing of certificates of candidacy set by the Commission on Elections for those aspiring for local or national positions is on October 12 to 15.

Escudero said that for his part, he will help and support whatever Poe will decide in his capacity as either a candidate or as an ordinary senator.

On the charge that Poe is being pictured as his puppet, Escudero said he believes that this came from the Liberal Party that is convincing Senator Poe to be the runningmate of its standard bearer Mar Roxas.

“If you are a suitor, that is not the way to woo a woman–that is practically insulting the woman you are courting by telling she is the puppet of somebody,” said Escudero.

In his campus speaking engagements, Escudero was accompanied by Rosendo So, chairman of the partylist Abono and also of the Samahan ng Industriya at Agrikultura (SINAG) who also accompanied Poe here two weeks ago. (PNA)
