CITY OF ILAGAN, Sept. 7 (PNA) — The city government of Ilagan is eyeing a P7-billion solar power plant that will establish the city as the solar energy capital of the Philippines after another foreign firm signified its interest to invest in solar energy generation in the city.
Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz said during Monday’s flag raising ceremony that an American firm’s representatives was in the city last week and made talks with the city government on the establishment of solar power plant.
Diaz said the foreign investors were in the city and looking for a 150-hectare solar farm to put up the solar power plant that can generate 100 megawatts of power in the eastern part of Ilagan.
He said the investors are looking for an area in the eastern part of the city to put up the solar panels that can generate power from the sun.
“We are lucky that our city is a destination for investors both for local and foreign-funded and we hope that more investors will come in our city to invest,” Diaz said.
Diaz said that with the coming in of investment for solar energy, the city will soon be the solar energy capital of the Philippines considering the huge power it can generate once these two solar power plants become operational. (PNA)
