Sec. Roxas urges Visayas mayors to join him in his mission to carry on ‘Tuwid na Daan’

ILOILO CITY, Sept. 3 (PNA) -– Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas has urged Visayas mayors to show their support to his mission to pursue the “Tuwid na Daan” (straight path) in the forthcoming 2016 election and said that he will give them a President from the Visayas island.

Secretary Roxas is the guest of honor and speaker in the League of Municipalities in the Philippines Visayas Island Cluster Conference that formally opened Thursday at Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center in Iloilo City.

He said that unlike in 2009 when he seemed to be running after his ambition to be of service to the Filipino people, now he feels more at peace despite the huge responsibility that has been given him by outgoing President Benigno Aquino III when the latter endorsed him.

”This is no longer an ambition but more of a mission to carry on the Matuwid na Daan,” Roxas said.

He said that he will give his all to serve the people with a transparent, committed and clean service.

The DILG secretary also said that in a few weeks, he expects the President to accept his resignation letter that he had submitted to him during his endorsement.

He said that the endorsement for him to become the Liberal Party’s standard bearer carries a huge responsibility but also a great honor for him considering that it carries a long political struggle for democracy from the parents of President Aquino. (PNA)
