Bacolod SP gives tribute to city’s vice mayors as part of Ordinance Week

BACOLOD CITY, Aug. 27 (PNA) — The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod paid tribute to vice mayors who served this city from 1951 up to the present as part of the observance of the Ordinance Week from Aug. 24 to 28.

Five out of 19 vice mayors, who rendered their exemplary and dedicated services, during the period attended Wednesday’s recognition rites dubbed “Honoring Our Colleagues” held at the SP Session Hall.

These included were former vice mayors Jose “Roger” Las Piñas, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Luzviminda Valdez, incumbent Councilor Alex Paglumotan, and Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya.

Gasataya, along with the SP members, honored all 19, starting with Mario Villanueva, who served his term from August 13 up to September 6, 1951. Others are Manuel Villanueva, Gloria Esteban, Romeo Guanzon, Inocencio Lucasan, Jovito Sayson, Raymundo Dizon, Jose Las Piñas, Juan Ramon Guanzon, Reynalda Sayson, Kenneth Barredo, Evelio Leonardia, Wilmar Drilon, Luzviminda Valdez, Alex Paglumotan, Ramiro Garcia, Renecito Novero, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, and Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya.

Valdez, Garcia, and Las Piñas expressed their gratitude for the recognition given by the City Council.

The week-long activity is embodied in City Ordinance authored by Councilor Jocelle-Batapa-Sigue, declaring the fourth week of August as Ordinance Week.

The event highlights the role of the City Council in effective local legislation.(PNA)
