CIDG nabs gun runners, drug traffickers in Tarlac

CAMP MACABULOS, Tarlac City, Aug. 25 (PNA) -– The Tarlac Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested Monday members of notorious groups involved in the gunrunning and drug trafficking activities in the city in separate operations here.

Tarlac CIDG provincial officer Chief Inspector Angelo Nicolas identified the suspects as Samuel Salac, 48, of Barangay San Roque, La Paz town, Rommel Calimlim, 31, tricycle driver and Rahimar Amer, 37, businesswoman, of Unit 1, Sitio Manga, Barangay Matatalaib, this city.

Nicolas said that Salac, who is a member of Gil group, is ranked No. 1 among top drug personalities in the municipality of La Paz while Calimlim and Amer, both members of Malo-Malog Gang, are involved in gun running and drug trafficking activities in the city.

Recovered from Salac were seven ammunition for caliber 9mm, one ammunition for caliber 38, one ammunition for M-16 riffle, one holster for firearm, three sachets of suspected shabu, a digital weighing scale, an improvised bottle cup burner with cotton bud inside, an aluminum foil, a scissor, two disposable lighters, and 40 empty plastic sachet while seized from Calimlim and Amer were caliber .9mm pistol with serial number 1454261, a magazine and eight ammunition for cal .9mm and four grams of suspected shabu worth PHP10,000.

The three suspects are now detained at the CIDG detention cell, facing charges of Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition and Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. (PNA)
