MANILA, Aug. 25 (PNA) -– Malacanang on Tuesday said that Senator Grace Poe remains the administration’s top choice for vice presidential candidate based on her capability to continue the reforms started by President Benigno Aquino III in 2010.
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr. said even ruling Liberal Party’s (LP) presidential bet Mar Roxas II believes that Poe can continue the transformation based on her track records.
”They (LP) strongly believe that this will be accomplished by Senator Grace Poe,” Coloma told the media briefing in Malacanang.
Coloma said Malacanang is not in panic mode in the selection of Roxas’ tandem in next year’s presidential poll.
”The President has said the deadline for the filing of candidacy is still far and everybody knows the deadline is October. Anything can happen,” he said.
In previous interviews, Poe said she’s still weighing her decision whether to accept the offer of Roxas to be his running mate.
Poe is being considered by some groups and political parties particularly the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) as presidential candidate with Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero as her tandem. (PNA)
