CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Aug. 21 (PNA) – A detainee in Bukidnon set on fire his detention cell Thursday in an attempt to execute an epic escape that turned into a hilarious fiasco.
Roberto Egar, detained on charges with violation of RA 9262, or Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act at the police station in Talakag, Bukidnon, set on fire the ceiling of the police station Thursday afternoon.
Insp. Jissele Longakit, of the provincial police office, said that the police officers destroyed the ceiling to suppress the fire that has spread toward the supply and station’s main hall.
Egar ran to the police station’s back door and dashed to freedom while the police were busy putting off the fire, Longakit said.
She said that an alert police officer saw Egar, running like a chicken on the loose. The police gave chase and arrested Egar. Aside from RA 9262, the police would file Arson, an additional charge against Egar, Longakit said. (PNA)
