MANILA, Aug. 21 (PNA) — The number of domestic flights cancelled due to effects of typhoon “Ineng” rose to 23 on Friday.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said that among flights cancelled were 17 flights from low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific, four flights from PAL Express, and two flights from Skyjet.
Flights cancelled from Cebu Pacific are 5J 902 (Caticlan-Manila), 5J 900 (Caticlan-Manila), 5J 905 (Manila-Caticlan), 5J 906 (Caticlan-Manila), 5J 539 (Manila-Busuanga), 5J 540 (Busuanga-Manila), 5J 404 (Manila-Laoag), 5J 405 (Laoag-Manila), 5J 557 (Manila-Cebu), and 5J 556 (Cebu-Manila).
Earlier cancelled were Cebu Pacific flights 5J 504 (Manila – Tuguegarao), 5J 505 (Tuguegarao – Manila), 5J 373 (Manila – Roxas), 5J 374 (Roxas – Manila), 5J 901 (Manila – Caticlan), 5J 899 (Manila-Caticlan), and 5J 898 (Caticlan-Manila).
Meanwhile flights cancelled from PAL Express include 2P 2196 (Manila – Laoag), 2P 2197 (Laoag – Manila), 2P 2014 (Manila – Tuguegarao), and 2P 2015 (Tuguegarao – Manila).
Cancelled Skyjet flights are M8 816 (Manila – Basco), and M8 817 (Basco – Manila).
State-run weather bureau PAGASA earlier said that stormy weather with rough to very rough seas will prevail over Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Abra, and Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands.
PAGASA also predicted rains with gusty winds over the rest of Cordillera and the provinces of La Union and Ilocos Sur while monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides will be experienced over Pangasinan, Zambales, Pampanga and Bataan.
On the other hand, occasional rains will prevail over Metro Manila, Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected over the rest of Visayas.
The weather bureau also said that partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms would prevail over Mindanao while moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northwest to west over Central Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon and coming from the Southwest prevail over the rest of the country.
