MANILA, Aug. 19 (PNA) — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has placed Thailand under Alert Level 1 after Monday’s bomb attack near the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok, which injured one Filipino worker.
Filipinos, under this security alert, are particularly advised to avoid the following areas, as specified by the Thai police: Rajaprasong intersection, Patumwan intersection, Silom Road, Khao San Road, Narathiwat intersection, and Victory monument.
Filipinos are also advised to avoid Tuk Chai intersection, Benjasiri Park, Soi Thong Lor, and Sukhumvit Road.
Alert Level 1 is issued when there are valid signs of internal disturbance, instability, and external threat to the host country.
“Filipinos are alerted to take necessary precautions,” the DFA said.
The Philippine embassy, it added, is ready to extend assistance, if necessary, to the estimated 15,000 Filipinos in Thailand. (PNA)
