MANILA, Aug. 17 (PNA) — A transport official clarified on Monday that while beep cards are currently available and usable in all Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) stations, the cards are only available and usable in southbound stations of the LRT-1.
LRT Authority (LRTA) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera made this clarification following questions regarding the beep card availability being sent to him via Twitter.
Cabrera stressed that beep cards cannot be used at northbound LRT-1 stations.
He also pointed out that while the LRT-1 southbound stations currently sell both stored value (SV) and single journey (SJ) ticket coupons, LRT-1 northbound stations sell only SJ ticket coupons.
Passengers taking the LRT-1 can purchase SV beep cards and load a minimum amount of PhP 12 and a maximum amount of PhP 10,000.
By next week, the LRTA will announce the start and procedure for the application of special cards for senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs).
At present, pre-loaded beep cards are available for purchase at the following locations: Unibersidad de Manila, Philippine Normal University, Technical University of the Philippines, Masagana Building and Victory Mall. (PNA)
