Bacolod PNP posts significant rise in anti-crime ratings in 1st sem of 2015

Posted on August 17, 2015

BACOLOD CITY, Aug. 17 (PNA) — The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) registered a significant increase in crime clearance efficiency (CCE) and crime solution efficiency (CSE) ratings for the first semester of 2015.

Records from the BCPO Investigation and Detective Management Unit (IDMU) showed the city’s CCE rating rose to 64.84 percent from 27.25 percent in 2014.

Meanwhile, CSE ratings increased to 61.78 percent from only 17.78 percent in 2014.

Senior Supt. Melchor Coronel, officer-in-charge of BCPO, said the drastic increases in the CCE and CSE ratings can be attributed to the full implementation of “Oplan Lambat-Sibat.”

Coronel said the operation is a breakthrough in crime prevention in which continuous data and analytic-driven strategy is being utilized to better address peace and order concerns in the city.

This includes the identification of the root of serious crimes in the city, he added.

“The continuous analysis of crimes through crime plotting to determine hotspots and providing appropriate police action is an added factor in the increase of CCE and CSE,” Coronel said.

Also, the BCPO registered impressive results in its police operations particularly in the campaign against illegal drugs.

From January to July 2015, the BCPO conducted 99 positive operations which led to the neutralization of 137 drug personalities.

He also added that the positive results were also obtained through constant conduct of random and strategic checkpoint operations by all police stations along with the Bacolod City Public Safety Company (BCPSC).

Coronel also pointed the constant police visibility in the streets most especially in vital installations and places of convergence has greatly contributed to the prevention of crimes and maintenance of public order.

Coronel encouraged police personnel to continue working with the community to accomplish the mission of ensuring peace, safety and security.(PNA)
