ZAMBOANGA CITY, Aug. 17 (PNA) – Senator Allan Peter Cayetano announced on Monday he is open to form an alliance with other political parties except for one come 2016 national and local elections.
Cayetano, who is the Nacionalista Party (NP) secretary-general, made this announcement in a press conference here although he emphasized “I don’t decide for the party.”
“We all know that political parties in the Philippines are loose alliances–for friendship and political convenience. It is not really (all) about principles and about platforms,” Cayetano said.
Cayetano said that personally he is closing the door to form an alliance with Vice President Jejomar Binay of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) “because the issue is all about corruption.”
He said there are only two or three NP members who are considering joining the party of the vice president in next year’s elections.
He said Binay is the last choice “or not the choice at all” due to the corruption issued “unless he can miraculously clear his name.”
He said Binay should face all the accusation hurled against him instead of evading the issues by adopting the “tago ng tago” tactics.
Binay is standing firm that all the accusations hurled against him are fabricated and politically motivate knowing the fact he is running for president next year. (PNA)
