MANILA, Aug 16 (PNA) — Beep cards are now being sold at all Southbound stations of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) for passengers to try out.
This comes after the success of the very first pilot test at the LRT-2 Legerda station last month and consecutive testing phases in other LRT-2 stations.
The same testing phase was done at the LRT-1 stations.
Aside from the selling of beep cards at the LRT-1 stations, project concessionaire AF Payments Inc. said that consumers who purchased a beep card in LRT-2 may also start using it in LRT-1 (Southbound direction).
The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) however said that cash refund for holders of the old magnetic card will no longer be accommodated.
In the next phase, LRT-1 southbound direction of all stations (from Roosevelt to Baclaran) will be ready to sell and reload beep Stored Value Cards (SVCs) as well as the new Single Journey Tickets (SJTs).
Pre-loaded beep cards will also be available for purchase beginning Aug 17 (Monday) at the following locations: Unibersidad de Manila, Philippine Normal University, Technical University of the Philippines, Masagna Building and Victory Mall. (PNA)
