Poe’s camp to unmask individuals behind demolition job against lady senator

MANILA, Aug. 17 (PNA) – The camp of Senator Grace Poe on Monday vowed to unmask the people behind the demolition job against the lady senator.

Senator Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero, Poe’s campaign manager in the 2013 midterm elections, believed that somebody is behind the losing Kapatiran senatorial candidate Lito David.

Over a week after filing petition before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET), David on Monday went to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reportedly filed an election offense case against Poe.

David claimed Poe committed misrepresentation for claiming she was a natural born citizen when she was not when she filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) in 2013.

”I don’t believe that he (David) woke one morning and decided to question the citizenship of Sen. Poe. We will unmask who is behind him,” Escudero said.

Escudero said David’s move was a clear form of harassment since “there is still no court decision yet whether she intentionally falsified her document.”

”This is a clear harassment,” Escudero said.

Escudero said once they had evidence, they would reveal who was behind David.

”It is unbelievable that it was just his (David) advocacy. I can’t believe that he came out only when the issue of Poe’s possible decision to run in 2016 became a hot issue,” Escudero said.

Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Mar Roxas met Poe last Sunday night in an effort to convince the lady lawmaker to be his running mate.

Poe is also reportedly being groomed by majority members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) as its standard-bearer with Escudero as her running mate in 2016.

Based on the recent Pulse Asia survey, Poe has the highest vote among the possible presidential candidates in 2016.

Meanwhile, Poe’s legal counsel George Garcia insisted that Poe is a natural-born Filipino.

”There was no misrepresentation because Senator Grace Poe is a natural-born Filipino. We are confident that the SC will decide in our favor,” Garcia said in a press statement.

”Clearly, the complainant is fishing for a forum to air his baseless accusations,” he added.

Poe, on the other hand, said she got ‘first hand’ information that some LP members were behind David’s demolition job against her.

”I’ve got many information on who is behind him. Some gave me firsthand accounts,” Poe said.

Poe said she also told Roxas during their meeting last Sunday night that “you have people who are hitting me behind.” (PNA)
