Barbie, the most popular fashion doll, made another debut last week in a charity event hosted by Ballet Philippines. In collaboration with the Barbie group and 40 of the most talented local fashion designers, Ballet Philippines organized an auction event called “Ballet Barbie” recently for the benefit of its dancers and scholars.

Entering the Rigodon Ballroom of the Peninsula Manila was like entering the world of Hollywood: Well-respected fashion designers as well as local celebrities and personalities were found mingling with each other. Even a real-life Ken attended the party!

The muse of the night, Barbie–all 200 versions of this fasyon doll, in fact–was clad in designer outfits. Cosmo fell in love with the trendy pieces she wore which were made by our very own Filipino designers. We saw a Barbie wearing the famous pina baro’t saya by National Artist Pitoy Moreno–the doll that got the highest bid at P100,000! Meanwhile, the ivory wedding gown by Cary Santiago went for P80,000. Thanks to ballet and Barbie enthusiasts, a total of P1.5 Million was raised that night!

While we enjoyed looking at the collections, Cosmo’s Style Paparazzi was of course scanning the attendees to see who wore what–to show you how the guests made an effort to dress up and look chic and fasyon a la Barbie. We asked several ladies at the event which designer’s collection is their favorite from among the Ballet Barbies on display that night.
