PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Aug. 13 (PNA) — Tourists staying at the posh Puerto Princesa Garden Island Resort & Spa in this city were agitated Wednesday night after learning a fire was burning through a bunkhouse, where employees and other working staff were staying.
According to Chief Inspector Donald Rodriguez of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire at the bunk house of the high-end island garden resort was reported to them at 9:52 p.m. Tuesday, prompting them to respond immediately.
Per initial investigation, he said the fire that engulfed the bunkhouse started from food left cooking in the stove.
He estimated the cost of the damage to the bunkhouse property to be around PHP100,000. He also expects it to rise when the employees staying in the said structure have already submitted their affidavits of loss.
None of the employees, who occupied the building were hurt in the blaze that was declared “fire out” a little after 10:00 p.m.
