BUTUAN CITY, Aug 13 (PNA)—The Agusan del Norte province celebrated the “International Youth Day” on Wednesday afternoon with a youth assembly held at the Provincial Training Center, Agusan del Norte Provincial Capitol Compound, this city.
The participants included the student government officers, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) chair persons committee on youth (by municipality), Young Agusan del Norte Emergency Rescue Teams (ADNERT) from the 11 municipalities and presidents of the youth organization (also by municipality).
The activity was spearheaded by Elizabeth Marie R. Calo, chairperson of the Sanguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Committee On Youth, Sports and Drug Abuse Prevention.
Among the highlights of the said assembly was the soft launching of Calo’s draft of the Agusan del Norte Youth Code.
Calo discussed the salient features of the draft code then accepted suggestions, amendments, additions from the participants which, she said, would be included in the final draft of the “Youth Code.”
Among the salient features of the code include addressing the rights, responsibilities, programs and activities and the youth agenda of the province.
Also highlighted during the assembly was the role of the youth during emergencies and disasters and the organization of youth emergency response teams of every municipalities.
The governor’s message was read by SP Member Danny Moran.
The youths planned to hold a lengthy youth assembly next year. (PNA)
