Bacolod police nabs 170 drugs suspects from January-July this year

BACOLOD CITY, August 12 (PNA) -– The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) arrested 170 illegal drug suspects in 116 operations it conducted from January to July this year.

Senior Insp. Dianne Catedral, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office, said the operations also led to confiscation of 318.0952 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with an estimated street value of P4.771 million.

A total of 42.7665 grams of suspected marijuana was also seized during the same period.

From January to July last year, BCPO confiscated only of 86.8277 grams of suspected shabu with estimated street value of P1.302 million. A total of 2,202.037 grams of suspected marijuana was also recovered.

Meanwhile, in the first seven months of 2015, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) recovered 905.9475 grams of suspected shabu, compared to only 138.8512 grams for the same period last year.

Inspector Raymundo Franco, public information officer of NOPPO, said there is a marked improvement in their police operational accomplishments especially on the campaign against illegal drugs this year.

NOPPO also recovered a total of 861.5 grams of suspected marijuana compared to last year’s 463.3863 grams.

Arrested were 125 drug suspects this year, from last year’s 106 apprehended suspects. (PNA)
