MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur, Aug. 11 (PNA) — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is allocating Php2.5 million to construct five footbridges in different far-flung sitios here.
The local government is also giving a counterpart fund of P325,000 to implement the project, bringing the total project amount to P2,825,000.
Municipal Engineer Haide dela Torre said the footbridges will be built at sitio Labidangan in Barangay Upper Bala, Sitio Asinan in Barangay Balnate, Sitio Asbang-Elok in Bacungan, Brgy. San Isidro and Brgy. Tagaytay.
Dela Torre said that the project is one of the priority projects under the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB), a government program designed to involve the grassroots like civil society organizations (CSOs), people’s organizations, cooperatives, associations and the academe.
Mayor Arthur Davin said the construction of the footbridges will be a big help to hasten the transport of farmers’ produce as well as provide a better path for children going to school. (PNA)
