Guimarasnon ranks 6th in Agriculture Board Exam

Posted on August 11, 2015

JORDAN, Guimaras, Aug. 11 (PNA) — Alvin Lising Nava, who works for the Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (POAS) in Guimaras, placed 6th in the Agriculturist Licensure Examination in the Philippines held last June where only 1,888 passed out of a total 6,080 examinees.

A resident of Igang, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, Nava, who took his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture course from Central Philippine University and a member of Batch 1997, currently holds the position of Agriculturist II at POAS.

Nava didn’t really have regular study hours and said he just “read whenever and wherever I (he) could”.

At home, his wife would complain: “The house is cluttered because your things are scattered everywhere.”

Because he was deeply involved in preparing for last summer’s 2015 Manggahan Festival, he didn’t have the time to enroll in the review center.

“I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford the two-day a week review sessions lasting three to four months, and so what I did was to gather review materials from friends and all related literature/presentations needed to help me prepare for the exams,” he said.

A recipient of a scholarship grant from the DA-ATI 6 under its Expanded Human Resource Development Program (EHRDP), Nava is currently immersed in his Residency for Thesis Writing of his Master’s Degree. (PNA)
